Enrico Letta advocates EU single market integration for Albania

Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister and President of the Jacques Delors Institute, has advocated for candidate countries like Albania to integrate into the European Union's single market prior to formal membership. Speaking at the Civil Society Forum in Pristina, Letta emphasized that economic integration should serve as a functional instrument to provide tangible benefits to citizens and economies before full accession.

Letta argued that building a single market mentality and functional markets among candidate nations ensures that the transition to full membership does not start from zero. For Albania, this approach offers opportunities to align with European standards, expand trade exchanges, attract investment, and strengthen business competitiveness through gradual alignment with the common market.
