Enrico Menegatti, renowned driftwood artist, honored at funeral

The community of Codigoro gathered on Saturday, October 17, to hold a funeral for Enrico Menegatti, a renowned artist known for his unique sculptures made from driftwood and wood reclaimed from the sea. The ceremony took place in the church of Pontelangorino, attended by hundreds of friends, family, local administrators, and representatives of various associations.

Menegatti, who passed away following a cardiac arrest, was celebrated for his artistic contribution to the landscape, particularly through the “open-air museum” he created at Lido di Volano. His work, which utilized branches and trunks washed ashore, gained international recognition, including coverage by National Geographic.

His wife, Mayor Sabina Alice Zanardi, delivered a moving tribute, describing him as a kind, intelligent, and solar individual who saw beauty in everything. The funeral saw significant participation, with condolences arriving from both Italy and abroad.
