Enrico Rava leads Fearless Five in concert at Rome's Casa del Jazz

On Saturday, 1 August, celebrated Italian trumpeter Enrico Rava performed with his new quintet Fearless Five at the Casa del Jazz in Rome. The ensemble, described as a “fearless” blend of young talent and Rava’s experience, includes trombonist and electronics player Matteo Paggi, drummer‑singer Evita Polidoro, bassist Francesco Ponticelli and guitarist Francesco Diodati.

Fearless Five was honored by Musica Jazz during the annual Top Jazz referendum, receiving the 2024 awards for “Album of the Year” and “Formation of the Year,” while Rava himself was named “Musician of the Year” for 2025. The group recorded an album in February 2024 at the Casa del Jazz studios, released in July by Parco della Musica Records. A second album, co‑produced by Parco della Musica and ECM and slated for autumn 2026, will feature guest American saxophonist Joe Lovano.
