Enrique Díaz Álvarez launches new essay on dehumanization

Enrique Díaz Álvarez, a professor of Contemporary Political Thought at UNAM, recently visited Lisbon for the launch of his new essay, ‘O Intolerável’. His work focuses on the vulnerability and dehumanization of marginalized groups.

In the book, Díaz Álvarez examines thinkers such as Michel Foucault, John Berger, and Richard Mosse, who used their work to expose the physical realities of prisoners and immigrants. The author argues that contemporary society is facing an authoritarian drift and a rise in far-right movements that normalize violence and the humiliation of vulnerable populations. He suggests that using precise language and storytelling serves as an act of resistance against the current era of disinformation and indifference.
