Enrique Peña Nieto spotted at Italian wedding with businessman linked to Pegasus allegations

Former Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has resurfaced in public at a luxury wedding in Portofino, Italy. Video footage from the ceremony, which celebrated the marriage of Israeli singer Omer Adam and Sacha Israelovich, shows Peña Nieto seated in the front rows wearing a black suit and a beige kippah.

Of particular note is Peña Nieto’s proximity to Israeli businessman Avishai Neriah. Neriah, along with business partner Uri Ansbacher, has been the subject of investigative reports by the Israeli outlet The Marker. These reports, stemming from a private arbitration under Torah law, allege that the two businessmen invested approximately $25 million to secure government contracts in Mexico during Peña Nieto’s administration (2012–2018).

One of the primary contracts mentioned in these allegations involves the sale of Pegasus spyware, developed by the Israeli firm NSO Group. While the arbitration documents reportedly discuss a significant 'investment' in a high-ranking official, they do not explicitly name Peña Nieto, though journalists have linked the descriptions to him.

Peña Nieto has previously and categorically denied all such allegations, describing them as 'totally false' and lacking journalistic rigor.
