ENS Atakpamé graduates 570 new teachers in Togo
On October 10, the École normale supérieure (ENS) in Atakpamé graduated 570 student-teachers from the 2023-2026 cohort. The graduates completed three years of training across six disciplines: French, English, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry and Technology, and History-Geography.
The training follows the License-Master-Doctorate (LMD) system, resulting in a professional teaching license. This initiative is part of the Togolese government's strategy to modernize the republican school system and address the growing demand for qualified instructors in secondary schools and high schools.
During the ceremony, officials highlighted recent pedagogical innovations at the ENS, including specialized one-year training programs in scientific subjects and professional teaching Masters programs. While the graduates have completed their training, their official deployment to public schools remains subject to government recruitment procedures, such as the national teacher recruitment competition.
