Ens Uneix demands processing of Valencian electoral reform initiative
The political formation Ens Uneix, representing the Unió Municipalista, is demanding that the Mesa de les Corts authorize the processing of a Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) to reform the Valencian electoral system.
The proposal seeks to lower the electoral threshold required for representation from the current 5% at the autonomous level to 3% calculated at the provincial level. Proponents argue this change would increase political and territorial plurality, noting that eight other Spanish autonomous communities already utilize a lower threshold.
Despite the initiative gathering over 11,000 signatures and receiving a favorable report from the Consell Jurídic Consultiu, no date has been set for the debate. While Ens Uneix calls for the debate to occur before the end of the current legislature to ensure democratic normalcy, the People's Party (PP) has indicated there is no exact schedule for its processing, suggesting it may be addressed when the next session period opens.
