Ensems Festival concludes 48th edition with avant-garde music

The 48th edition of the Ensems Festival, a prominent contemporary music event in Spain, has concluded its programming. Organized by the Institut Valencià de Cultura through the Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades, the festival featured avant-garde musical proposals.

For the first time, the festival expanded its reach beyond the Valencian Community with a concert titled ‘Rage Thrombones’ by Weston Olencki and Mattie Barbier held at CentroCentro in Madrid.

Closing activities included ‘Topografies sonores’ in Valencia’s Plaza de Viriat, a project combining sound creation and digital art involving students from higher conservatories in Valencia and Castellón. Other scheduled performances included electronic music sets by Florent DJ and Marc Dorian DJ, a presentation of John Cage’s works by Klang Company, and a program by the Polish ensemble Spółdzielnia Muzyczna at the Palau de les Arts. The festival also featured a commemorative concert for the centenary of composer Morton Feldman.
