Ensenada government blocks companies flagged by U.S. authorities

The Ensenada Municipal Government has decided to block all new contracts with companies identified by United States authorities. This measure also extends to preventing the partners, shareholders, ultimate beneficiaries, or legal representatives of these flagged companies from participating as municipal suppliers through other corporate entities.

Mayor Claudia Agatón Muñiz has instructed the Mayor's Office to implement a protective shield for the municipal supplier registry. This involves identifying and reviewing flagged companies and linked individuals to prevent their involvement in future government procurement. The initiative aims to strengthen internal verification processes and oversight regarding the corporate structure of legal entities seeking to provide goods or services to the municipality.

Regarding previous contracts for the Ensenada Carnival, the Municipal Institute for Culture and Human Development stated that additional transparency measures were implemented. All physical and legal entities serving as providers submitted sworn statements declaring the lawful origin of their resources and compliance with federal laws regarding the prevention and identification of operations with illicit resources.
