Ensenada Mayor reports on sustainability and faces electoral ruling

Ensenada Mayor Claudia Agatón Muñiz has outlined several environmental initiatives as part of her second government report. Key programs include ‘Reciclando Ensenada’, which has seen an increase in recycling volume compared to 2025, and a ‘Mega Colecta de Vidrio’ in the El Porvenir district that recovered 5,575 kilograms of glass. Additionally, the ‘Adopta un espacio’ program has established 58 agreements to maintain over 95,000 square meters of green areas.

Separately, the State Electoral Institute of Baja California (IEEBC) issued a resolution regarding the dissemination of Agatón’s first government report in 2025. The council determined that Agatón was indirectly responsible for disseminating the report outside of the legally permitted timeframes and territorial limits, specifically in Tijuana. While the IEEBC found no evidence of illegal personalized promotion, it ruled that the irregular dissemination occurred. A fine was imposed on Maribel García González for direct responsibility regarding the irregular dissemination of the report.
