Ensenada reports crime decrease following increased security investment
Ensenada Mayor Claudia Agatón Muñiz reported a decrease in crime during 2026, attributing the trend to increased investment in municipal security and improved inter-institutional coordination.
To enhance police response capabilities, equipment investment rose by 50 percent compared to 2025. This included over 5.2 million pesos for 100 semi-automatic rifles and 46,000 rounds of ammunition. Additional resources were used to deploy 65 patrol cars, 15 motorcycles, 120 ballistic vests, 816 uniforms, and 90 body cameras.
Technological upgrades included the purchase of 197 digital portable radios for over 8.7 million pesos. The municipality also invested over 484,000 pesos in canine units and allocated more than 9.2 million pesos for the integral rehabilitation of the K-9 Unit infrastructure.
