Enslaved announces new progressive black metal album Mið

Norwegian progressive black metal band Enslaved has announced their seventeenth full-length album, titled Mið, scheduled for release on October 30, 2026, via Nuclear Blast Records.

Departing from their traditional focus on Norwegian mythology and symbolism, the band explores different pagan and spiritual traditions. The album's title translates to ‘center,’ reflecting a thematic convergence of various spiritual points. A notable collaboration includes Kevin Kicking Woman, an elder of the Blackfeet Nation, on the track ‘Spirit Helper.’

Musically, the album is described as more organic, earthy, and direct than previous works like Heimdal. While maintaining the band's signature jazzy chords, deceptive tempos, and rhythmic shifts, the songwriting focuses on holding onto ideas longer, leaning into extreme metal riffs that are intense but distinct from traditional black metal.
