ENSO CEO warns of EV tire wear and microplastic pollution

While EVs reduce tailpipe emissions, their high weight and torque lead to faster tire degradation. This wear contributes significantly to urban air pollution and microplastic contamination in oceans. ENSO aims to mitigate these issues by developing technologies to improve EV sustainability.
In São Paulo, the transition to electric public transport is showing economic and environmental benefits. Approximately 13% of the city's 13,500-bus fleet is now electric, including battery-powered buses and trolleybuses. Although electric buses have a higher initial purchase price, their operational costs are roughly 65% lower than diesel models, saving significant fuel and reducing CO2 emissions.
