Entel Digital and Red Hat partner to develop sovereign cloud in Chile
Entel Digital, the digital solutions unit of Entel, has announced a technological alliance with Red Hat to build a sovereign cloud based on open-source technology. This initiative represents the fourth generation of Entel’s cloud services and aims to provide organizations with greater control over the residency, operation, and portability of critical data in the era of artificial intelligence.
The partnership addresses growing concerns among Chilean companies regarding infrastructure control for AI training and data management. The proposed sovereign cloud model moves beyond simple geographic residency by incorporating four key dimensions: data residency within Chile, local jurisdiction and operation by a domestic team, open technology to prevent vendor lock-in, and cognitive governance to allow organizations to manage their own AI models and agents.
To implement this architecture, Entel Digital will integrate Red Hat OpenShift, an enterprise-grade open-source platform based on Kubernetes, allowing companies to transition progressively from traditional applications to modernized architectures.
