Enterprise AI Confronts Growing Privacy, Sovereign and Vulnerability Challenges

A recent NTT DATA report finds that more than 95% of enterprises consider private and sovereign AI important, yet only about one‑third are actively prioritising sovereign AI. Roughly 35% of chief AI officers cite building, integrating and managing AI models in private or sovereign environments as a top barrier, and nearly 60% point to cross‑border data restrictions as a major obstacle. Confidence in cloud security is low, with just 38% of respondents feeling secure.

At the same time, the 19th Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) highlights vulnerability exploitation as the leading entry point for breaches in 2026. The report warns that AI‑driven attack speed is accelerating threat dynamics, forcing organisations to shift security strategies toward greater resilience. Together, these findings underscore mounting pressures on businesses to redesign AI architectures for tighter data control, jurisdictional compliance and robust cyberdefence.
