Enterprise AI Deployment Faces Audit and Identity Governance Gaps

Logs produced by AI agents are inadequate as legal evidence because they lack integrity, attribution, completeness, and independence. Signed execution receipts can address these shortcomings by providing immutable, attributable, complete, and independently verifiable records.

A recent Okta Enterprise AI Index, covering anonymized sign‑on data from over 20,000 organizations, shows rapid growth of AI‑native vendors but reveals that most enterprises still authorize AI workflows with static API keys, service accounts, or even employee credentials. This practice erodes audit trails, as noted by Okta’s Fei Liu. The index also found that non‑human identities now outnumber human users in 83 % of surveyed firms, yet only 21 % have dedicated governance controls for them. Consequently, the perceived maturity of AI deployments fell sharply, while organizations with robust non‑human identity governance reported fewer barriers to expanding AI use.
