Widespread adoption of artificial‑intelligence applications is reshaping business operations, with 88% of organizations using AI in at least one function. Tools such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude are now embedded in daily workflows—drafting, coding, research, document analysis and internal decision‑support. Their deep integration gives them access to sensitive documents, proprietary code, legal files and personal data, creating substantial exposure if the information is processed in unmanaged or consumer‑grade AI environments.

A recent congressional hearing on June 4, 2026 highlighted how AI also transforms cybersecurity. Experts noted AI’s ability to analyze massive telemetry streams, detect anomalies faster than human analysts and automate incident‑response actions like system isolation and IP blocking. However, they warned that AI‑driven alerts can overwhelm security teams, leading to “alert fatigue” and the risk that critical threats are missed. Improving signal‑processing algorithms and contextual analytics is seen as essential to filter high‑risk alerts and enable coordinated response across teams.
