Enterprise networks face challenges from fragmentation and disappearing boundaries
Enterprise IT organizations are facing increasing pressure due to fragmented network architectures and the disappearance of traditional network boundaries. As applications migrate to SaaS and cloud environments, and employees work from diverse locations, business-critical traffic increasingly traverses networks that IT departments do not own or manage.
Traditional network monitoring, which relied on well-defined boundaries and owned infrastructure, is becoming insufficient. The rise of encrypted VPNs and Zero Trust architectures further obscures visibility. To address these challenges, there is a growing need for a shift toward converged frameworks like Secure Access Service Edge (SASE). This approach integrates software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) and Security Service Edge (SSE) into a cohesive system where security dictates architectural terms, rather than acting as a secondary layer.
