Entertainment industry prepares for 2026 ‘A Different World’ and ‘Resident Evil’ projects

The entertainment industry is preparing for two significant upcoming projects. Felicia Pride is leading a new iteration of the historic series ‘A Different World’ for 2026. Rather than a direct remake, the project aims to provide a new voice for Black students and young people, continuing the legacy of the original series that focused on life at the fictional Hillman University.

In film, director Zach Cregger is helming a 2026 reboot of ‘Resident Evil’. Starring Austin Abrams as a medical courier in Raccoon City, the film is noted for diverging from previous cinematic adaptations of the video game franchise. The production, associated with Sony Pictures, seeks to establish a new direction for the brand through tension and dark comedy.
