Entertainment updates: New releases for ‘The End of Oak Street’ and ‘Dark Matter’

‘The End of Oak Street’, directed by David Robert Mitchell and produced by J. J. Abrams, stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. The film follows the Platt family after a cosmic event transports their suburban neighborhood to a prehistoric landscape filled with lethal creatures. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film is set to release in theaters and IMAX on August 13.

Apple TV’s ‘Dark Matter’ is returning for a second season based on the novel by Blake Crouch. Starring Joel Edgerton as physics professor Jason Dessen, the series explores parallel realities. Showrunner Blake Crouch indicated that while the first season focused on idealism and regret, the second season will shift toward themes of survival and the consequences of utilizing advanced technology.
