Entik captured in Dubai; Greece, Cyprus and France seek extradition

Police in the United Arab Emirates arrested a man known as “Entik”, alleged head of a post‑Soviet diaspora organised‑crime network. He is wanted by Greece, Cyprus and France on charges that include participation in a criminal organisation and involvement in an attempted assassination of a Ukrainian oligarch in Monaco.

The three countries have issued international arrest warrants, and Cypriot authorities have been formally notified of the arrest. The suspect holds a Russian passport, prompting additional diplomatic considerations. UAE officials are reportedly cautious about granting extradition to Greece, and discussions are ongoing about whether he will be transferred to any of the requesting states.

Greek police describe Entik as a “brain” of the mafia, linked to extortion, illegal protection services, money‑laundering and trafficking of contraband. The case has revived investigations into related family members arrested in Cyprus for suspicious bank transfers and luxury vehicle holdings. The extradition decision remains pending.
