Entre Mentes Festival teaches emotional self-care to youth
The Entre Mentes festival provided practical emotional self-care training to more than 150 children and adolescents, aged 7 to 17, at the Colmena Agua Azul facility. Organized in collaboration with Sipinna Jalisco, the Centro de Prevención Social del Estado, and Colmena Agua Azul, the event was held in observance of World Mental Health Day.
The program featured interactive workshops focusing on mindfulness, emotion management, addiction prevention, and sexual health. Organizations including SALME 075, Psicobarrio A. C., and AL-ANON A. C. also provided information booths.
Officials Thais Loera Ochoa of Sipinna Jalisco and Yasmín Palos Rodríguez of Prevención Social emphasized the necessity of creating safe spaces and targeted violence prevention for young people. The initiative addresses critical mental health trends; data from INEGI indicates that individuals aged 15 to 19 account for 7.34 percent of registered suicide cases nationally, with notable incidence rates among young men and rising numbers among young women.
