Entre Ríos agricultural diversity drives integral economic vision
The Federación Agraria Argentina (FAA) is calling for a broader perspective on the productive structure of Entre Ríos, arguing that the province's economy is often oversimplified as being solely based on extensive crop farming.
In reality, the province maintains a highly diverse agricultural and livestock matrix. This includes bovine, porcine, and ovine livestock, as well as rice, poultry, egg production, dairy, citrus, blueberries, pecans, apiculture, and horticulture. The forestry and forest-industrial sectors also play significant roles. Within agriculture, traditional crops like wheat, corn, soy, sorghum, and sunflower are supplemented by legumes and forage crops.
Statistical data highlights this scale, noting over 2.6 million hectares sown and a livestock stock exceeding 4.4 million bovine heads. These diverse activities are interconnected through value chains; for instance, the poultry sector relies on local corn and soy production for animal feed. The FAA emphasizes that sustainability must consider not only production volume but also how goods are produced, the actors involved, and the impact on local employment and territorial development.
