Entre Ríos implements tax benefits to support tourism sector
The government of Entre Ríos, Argentina, has implemented a series of fiscal benefits to support the tourism sector. According to the Administradora Tributaria de Entre Ríos (ATER), these measures include a 20 percent reduction in Gross Income tax for various activities, such as lodging, gastronomy, travel agencies, and adventure tourism, effective through December 31, 2026. Additionally, registered hotels can receive urban property tax exemptions of up to 50 percent, depending on their number of employees.
In Concepción del Uruguay, a new agreement has been signed to implement the Economic Tourism Observatory of Entre Ríos (OETER). This initiative aims to generate reliable statistics to improve local tourism planning. Meanwhile, in Concordia, authorities are working on the 2025–2030 Sustainable Tourism Strategic Plan, focusing on improving accessibility and inclusivity for visitors.
Despite these provincial efforts, industry leaders have expressed concern regarding the broader national economic climate. Matías Turello, president of the Termas de Río Hondo Tourism Board, described the current period as a “economic pandemic,” noting that falling consumption and rising costs are causing hotels and restaurants across Argentina to close. In Gualeguay, tourism providers have also raised concerns regarding local inefficiencies and the impact of water emergencies on the sector.
