Entre Ríos, Argentina restarts school year with 75% teacher attendance
The Consejo General de Educación (CGE) reported that 75% of teaching staff were present across the 17 departments of Entre Ríos province, allowing the normal restart of the academic calendar after the winter break. Schools remained open, classes were held as scheduled and the right to learning for children and adolescents was maintained.
The return to classrooms coincided with a 24‑hour strike called by teachers' unions AGMER and AMET, protesting a provincial decree that raised salaries without a collective agreement. Provincial authorities emphasized that negotiations with union representatives are ongoing and that the high level of presentism helped ensure the continuity of education.
Overall, the high attendance enabled the province's schools to function without interruption despite the brief labor dispute.
