Argentina sees wave of provincial and municipal salary talks

The provincial governments of Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, San Juan, Neuquén and Buenos Aires have reopened or continued salary negotiations (paritarias) with teachers, state workers and other public‑sector unions. In Santa Fe, Governor Maximiliano Pullaro called unions back to the table; teachers demand a 30 % recomposition, removal of the “presentismo” attendance penalty and a review of the pension reform. In Entre Ríos, the executive announced a decree to apply a 3 % increase for July after talks stalled, while also offering a 7 % two‑step raise that unions rejected; the UPCN union withdrew from the table and announced an active strike. San Juan signed a new agreement that sets escalated salary steps from July to October and includes a November review. Neuquén’s state unions met with the government to discuss a continuation of the CPI adjustments and salary recomposition. In Buenos Aires, most teachers accepted a 7 % two‑tranche increase, but dissenting unions launched a 48‑hour strike affecting several districts. Across the country, unions such as ATE, UPCN, Amsafe, Sadop, UDA and others have voiced low expectations and called for stronger wage recovery amid high inflation.
