Buenos Aires Province reopens salary negotiations with state unions

The government of Buenos Aires Province has called for new collective bargaining sessions with state worker unions to discuss salary increases for the remainder of the year. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, follows intense pressure from unions such as ATE, judicial workers, and teachers who are demanding wage recompositions to combat inflation and the loss of purchasing power.

Because the negotiations are occurring in the second half of September and monthly payrolls have already been processed, any agreed-upon increases will not be reflected in October salaries, likely appearing in November instead. Unions are seeking a strategy for October and November, with a final adjustment potentially discussed in December.

In a separate labor dispute, the AGMER union in Entre Ríos has rejected a government proposal of a 3.5% increase for September, a 1.5% increase for November, and a 2% increase for December, labeling the offer insufficient given current inflationary trends. The union has called for school assemblies to determine its next steps.
