Entre Ríos government seeks electricity tariff relief for forestry sector

The provincial government of Entre Ríos will mediate with the national government to seek electricity tariff relief for the forest-industrial sector. Following a meeting between Governor Rogelio Frigerio and representatives from the Chamber of Industrials of Entre Ríos and the Argentine Forestry Association (AFoA), officials identified rising energy costs as a critical threat to local productivity.

Industry producers reported significant electricity price increases over the last four months. These hikes are attributed to extraordinary generation charges applied nationally by the Wholesale Electricity Market Administrator (Cammesa), which have heavily impacted the cost structure of local sawmills.

The province intends to present proposals to the National Secretariat of Energy and Cammesa to mitigate these additional charges. Economic Development Minister Guillermo Bernaudo stated that preliminary discussions have already begun in Buenos Aires to protect sector competitiveness and regional employment.
