Entre Ríos judiciary summons families to join school food program lawsuit
The judiciary in Entre Ríos, Argentina, has issued a formal summons for families and guardians to join a collective amparo lawsuit against the provincial government. The legal action, filed by various parents, the AGMER union, and the Cauce Foundation, challenges the implementation of a new school feeding program.
At the center of the dispute is the quality of breakfast and snack products provided to students in public schools. The lawsuit seeks to protect the rights of children and adolescents to receive nutrition that is not detrimental to their health, citing concerns over specific industrialized products. The plaintiffs argue the program must comply with National Law No. 25,724 and Law No. 27,642, which promote healthy eating and nutritional standards.
Judge Juan Francisco Malvasio of the 9th Court of Appeals in Paraná ordered the public summons. Interested parties have seven days from the final official publication to intervene in the case to assert their rights or formally opt out of the collective action.
