Entre Ríos Attorney General supports new school meal system

The Attorney General of Entre Ríos, Jorge García, has issued a legal opinion supporting the province's new school meal system and urging the judiciary to reject appeals filed by parents, the AGMER union, and the CAUCE Foundation. García stated that the current resolution is not arbitrary but is grounded in constitutional and provincial norms. He emphasized that while food policy implementation is an executive power, it remains subject to judicial oversight when fundamental rights are at stake. He further clarified that improvements must involve effective changes to food content rather than mere labeling adjustments regarding warning seals.

Simultaneously, the Interinstitutional Table for the improvement of the school feeding system held its second working meeting to strengthen nutritional quality for students. Participants, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, the General Council of Education, and the National University of Entre Ríos, discussed incorporating fresh foods into school breakfasts to diversify nutritional offerings. Representatives from the provider Teknofood noted that their products meet and exceed minimum bromatological requirements. The group continues to evaluate the nutritional, sanitary, and operational aspects of these proposed changes.
