Entre Ríos pension reform prompts PJ disciplinary action against supporting legislators
Provincial senator Gladys Domínguez voted in favor of a reform of the Entre Ríos pension fund, arguing that political responsibility means acting before the system’s deficit becomes irreversible. She emphasized, “Not doing anything is also a decision,” and highlighted changes such as reducing the calculation period for initial benefits from 20 to 15 years and maintaining differentiated retirement ages.
The provincial Justicialist Party (PJ) announced it will refer Domínguez and fellow deputy Nancy Miranda to the party’s disciplinary tribunal for voting against the party line, which had instructed members to oppose the reform. The PJ says the bill threatens workers’ and retirees’ rights and transfers the pension deficit burden onto them, violating Peronist principles of solidarity. The party plans to evaluate possible sanctions, including expulsion, for the legislators’ actions.
