Entre Ríos Police Whistleblowers Granted 90‑Day Extension of Protection

A provincial judge extended the protective measures for police officers who reported a suspected scheme of falsified overtime payments within the Entre Ríos police force. The decision, issued on 6 August, adds another 90 days, keeping the safeguards in place until 6 November. The order maintains the same restrictions imposed on 8 May, prohibiting any approach, harassment, or administrative actions against the whistleblowers and protected witnesses.

The ruling specifically addresses the police chief, Claudio Omar González, ordering him to refrain from altering duties, transfers, shifts, or any disciplinary measures affecting the protected officers without solid technical and legal justification. It also requires that the officers and their families be shielded from workplace or personal intimidation. Non‑compliance could constitute the crime of judicial disobedience under article 239 of the Penal Code. The extension was communicated to the parties, the provincial Justice and Security Ministry, and the Office of Audience Management.
