Entre Ríos Province raises school meal budget by 20%

The Ministry of Human Development in Entre Ríos, Argentina, approved a 20 percent increase in funding for school cafeterias. The boost aims to improve the nutritional quality of meals for children and adolescents across the province and to preserve the purchasing power of schools amid the current economic context. Minister Verónica Berisso said the measure supports Governor Rogelio Frigerio’s broader policy to strengthen child welfare, while cafeteria director Lautaro Azzalini highlighted the effort to ensure balanced menus.

In addition, the provincial government launched a winter edition of the Programa Alimentario Nutricional Escolar (PANE). The program will distribute bags containing eleven non‑perishable items to all public‑sector students, including those in auto‑managed and digital schools, as well as to centers for early childhood and day‑care. Specialized bags for children with celiac disease will contain gluten‑free products. The distribution will occur before the July school break to guarantee continuous nutrition for students during the holidays.
