San Cristóbal Hospital Julio Villanueva launches first CT scanner

The Julio César Villanueva Hospital in San Cristóbal, Argentina, inaugurated its first computed‑tomography (CT) service. The new scanner, transferred from the Hospital Regional “Dr. Jaime Ferré” in Rafaela, was installed after a 33 million‑peso renovation that created a dedicated imaging area and upgraded the rehabilitation unit. Senator Felipe Michlig said, “por primera vez contamos con un tomógrafo en funcionamiento, lo que permitirá evitar traslados, obtener diagnósticos oportunos y mejorar la atención.” Minister of Health Silvia Ciancio added, “Se construyó un área completamente nueva, con espacios amplios y adecuados,” and highlighted staff training for the equipment. The CT service is expected to serve thousands of residents across the north‑Santafesino region, reducing the need for patients to travel to other provinces for high‑complexity imaging.
