Entre Ríos reports 72 road fatalities in first half of 2026
The Observatorio de Seguridad Vial de Entre Ríos reported that 72 people died in traffic accidents during the first half of 2026. The report detailed 401 accidents involving victims, resulting in 72 fatalities, 340 serious injuries, and 196 minor injuries. The most affected age group was 15 to 24 years old, representing 22% of fatalities. Men accounted for over 70% of the deaths.
Fatalities were concentrated in specific departments, with Paraná recording 14 deaths, followed by Concordia with 9, and Colón and Gualeguaychú with 7 each. If current trends continue, annual fatalities could exceed 140 for 2026.
National Deputy Blanca Osuna criticized the management of road infrastructure funds, alleging that resources from the Integrated Road System (SIS-VIAL) are being diverted into financial investments rather than road maintenance. Osuna claimed that only 20% of the national funds intended for road infrastructure have been executed, accusing the administration of using fuel tax revenues to maintain financial surpluses instead of improving provincial routes.
