Entrepreneur loses R$ 32,000 in Facebook vehicle scam
A 58-year-old entrepreneur lost approximately R$ 32,000 after attempting to purchase a pickup truck advertised on Facebook. The victim reported to the Civil Police that he made several Pix transfers during the negotiation, under the impression that the funds were necessary to finalize the purchase and would be reimbursed.
The fraud was discovered when the alleged seller failed to return the money as promised and instead provided successive justifications and new financial demands. The incident, recorded as fraud, occurred in Mirassol and was registered at the Central de Flagrantes in São José do Rio Preto.
Police have identified two phone numbers used during the transaction. The victim has expressed intent to pursue criminal charges. Authorities have advised the entrepreneur to use the Pix Special Refund Mechanism (MED) through his bank to attempt to recover the transferred funds.
