Entrepreneur released to house arrest in VAT fraud probe
An entrepreneur, Marco Bruglia, has been released from prison and placed under house arrest following an investigation into a VAT carousel fraud scheme. The investigation, conducted by the European Public Prosecutor's Office in Torino, initially led to the arrest of 11 individuals.
Bruglia’s legal team argued that there was no risk of reoffending or tampering with evidence, and noted a previous acquittal in Macerata for a similar charge. While the judge granted house arrest, his lawyers indicated they intend to file an appeal for a full dismissal of precautionary measures.
Other key figures in the investigation include Giuseppe Cerolini, a 59-year-old entrepreneur and former patron of Civitanovese, and Maria Giuseppina Marinozzi, who remain in custody. Cerolini is identified as one of the alleged instigators in the fraudulent scheme.
