Entrepreneurs evaluate cost management to boost profitability

Entrepreneurs are evaluating cost management strategies to increase profitability. Effective business planning requires a detailed analysis of both fixed and variable costs to determine financial viability.

Luiz Antonio Barbagallo, an economist at the Associação Brasileira de Administradoras de Consórcios (ABAC), explains that the primary difference lies in the relationship between revenue and expenses. Fixed costs, such as rent, salaries, and taxes, occur regardless of activity levels. Variable costs, including raw materials and commissions, change in proportion to production volume.

Operational measures can reduce variable costs, such as optimizing raw material purchases in industrial settings. Fixed costs can also be managed through contract negotiations or by investing in owned property rather than leasing.
