Entrepreneurs highlight investment and education in Portugal
Luso-American entrepreneur John Negreiro Guedes, founder of Primrose Companies, recently visited his native village of Vilas Boas in Chaves, Portugal. After emigrating to the United States in the 1960s, Guedes established a significant architectural and construction career in Connecticut and New York, overseeing numerous residential and commercial projects.
Separately, businessman Rubens Menin has highlighted the need for reduced bureaucracy and better strategic planning to boost investment and wine tourism in the Douro region. Menin emphasized the importance of integrating academic institutions with the business sector, noting successful internship models in Brazil and partnerships with the University of Vila Real (UTAD) in Portugal to develop talent in enology and tourism.
