Entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives expand in Portugal
Entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives are gaining momentum in Portugal through new educational programs and infrastructure. In Alcobaça, Startup Alcobaça recently held its second Bootcamp, an event focused on transforming business ideas into structured projects through collaborative methodologies. The competition awarded prizes of 1,000, 500, and 250 euros to the top three participants.
Following the bootcamp, Startup Alcobaça is preparing to open a new coworking space at the Alcobaça Business Park on October 12. This initiative, a partnership between the Alcobaça Municipality and Startup Leiria, aims to connect entrepreneurs and professionals with the existing local business fabric to stimulate the new economy.
In Faro, the University of Algarve (UAlg) hosted a book presentation titled ‘How to use AI to create a Startup in 30 days’ at the UAlg Tec Campus. Authors Joaquim Nascimento and Joaquim Costa presented a method designed to guide aspiring founders through the initial stages of business creation using artificial intelligence as a decision-making tool. The event brought together academic leaders, regional technology hubs like Algarve STP, and local business executives to discuss the integration of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
