Entrepreneurship rates rise in Catalonia and Valencia

Entrepreneurial activity is showing significant growth across several Spanish regions. In Catalonia, the Total Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) rate reached 9.7% in 2025, aligning with high-income European economies and surpassing the Spanish national average of 7.8%. The gender gap in entrepreneurship is narrowing, with the female TEA rate at 9.6% compared to 9.8% for men.

In the Valencian Community, recent entrepreneurial activity rose to 9.1% of the adult population, up from 8.2% the previous year. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report indicates that the intention to start a business in the next three years is also higher than the national average.

Complementing these trends, the Reempresa program has marked its 15th anniversary, having successfully facilitated over 6,000 business transfers since 2011. This initiative has helped safeguard 17,014 jobs and generated over 339 million euros in induced investment in Catalonia. Meanwhile, in Lleida, the ‘Fem Sectors’ program continues to connect the local business fabric with young people to foster professional development and vocational discovery.
