Enugu gubernatorial candidates outline development and security plans

Candidates for the Enugu State governorship have presented distinct visions for the region's future. Chinyeaka Ohaa, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for a shift in governance priorities toward job creation, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. During a town hall meeting, Ohaa expressed support for former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, stating that Obi's vision aligns with the need for accountability and national development.

Nnamdi Ugwu, the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) candidate, focused his platform on combating kidnapping. Ugwu proposed a multi-pronged strategy to disrupt ransom payments by collaborating with banks, telecommunications operators, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). His plan includes the establishment of a Community Security Corps (CSC) to work alongside the police and the Directorate of State Service (DSS). Additionally, Ugwu pledged to utilize surveillance technology, such as drones and cameras, and to fast-track criminal trials to ensure swift justice.
