Enugu: NDC member killed in campaign office attack

Nworie Christopher, a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has died from gunshot wounds sustained during an attack on the party’s campaign office in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Enugu. The incident occurred on October 10, 2026, when armed thugs allegedly attacked supporters gathered at the office of the NDC governorship candidate, Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa.

Ohaa led a delegation to visit the deceased's family on October 13 to offer condolences. The party leadership has condemned the killing, describing it as part of a dangerous escalation of political violence against the opposition in Enugu State. Ohaa cited previous incidents, including an attack on a ward meeting in Nkanu West on September 12 and the brutalization of supporters at the airport, as evidence of a pattern of intimidation.

The NDC is calling for a police investigation and the prosecution of those responsible for the attack and the death of Christopher.
