Enugu State Government refutes reports of selling public assets
The Enugu State Government has dismissed social media reports claiming the sale of major public institutions and facilities as false and misleading. The rumors suggested the state was selling the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), the Enugu State Water Corporation, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, and the State Liaison Office in Lagos.
Nathaniel Urama, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, clarified that while the government does intend to dispose of certain unserviceable assets located at these facilities, it is not selling the institutions or the facilities themselves. He stated that the disposal of these unusable items will be conducted in accordance with extant laws and due process.
Urama advised the public and media organizations to verify information through official government channels to avoid the spread of fake news. He noted that any official notice regarding the disposal of unserviceable assets would be published through appropriate official channels.
