Enugu State invests N500m in ESUTH surgical equipment upgrades

The administration of Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has invested over N500 million in new surgical equipment and medical facility upgrades at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), Parklane.

Chief Medical Director Prof. Bethrand Ngwu stated that the upgrades target the main theatre, the Accident and Emergency Department, and specialized equipment for complex surgical procedures. The improvements aim to transform ESUTH into a world-class tertiary healthcare and specialist training center, with the goal of becoming one of Nigeria’s premier teaching hospitals.

The new facilities are intended to support postgraduate medical accreditation from the National Postgraduate Medical College and the West African College of Surgeons. Additionally, the Accident and Emergency Department is being developed as an autonomous unit to allow for immediate investigation and treatment of emergency patients without unnecessary transfers between hospital sections.
