Environment Agency arrests man in Cornwall waste crime probe

A man in his 20s was arrested near Camborne, Cornwall, as part of an ongoing Environment Agency investigation into illegal waste activities at a site containing about 50,000 tonnes of mainly inert construction waste.

The arrest was carried out jointly by the Environment Agency, Cornwall Council and Devon and Cornwall Police. The agency had previously issued Illegal Waste Stop Letters to the landowner, hauliers and operator and said the action demonstrates its commitment to the Waste Crime Action Plan and the 10‑Point Plan. Tim de Winton, Area Environment Manager, said the teams have been working tirelessly and the arrest is a vital step. The man has not yet been formally charged.
