Environmental agents in León extend indefinite strike
Environmental agents representing 15 of the 18 regions in the province of León have extended their indefinite strike against fire watch shifts. The workers are demanding improvements to their labor and safety conditions from the Junta de Castilla y León.
The protesters expressed frustration with the regional administration, specifically naming President Alfonso Fernández Mañueco and the new Environment Counselor, María González Corral, for a perceived lack of response to their demands. The agents stated that they have avoided striking during the high-risk fire season out of responsibility, but the lack of dialogue has led to the continuation of the protest.
According to the workers, the current lack of professional recognition and safety measures makes fire operations less effective, more expensive, and more dangerous. They expressed a desire to return to normal operations before the next major fire season begins.
