Environmental and agricultural protests reported in Argentina
In Brandsen, the organization Vecinos por un Brandsen Ecológico has filed a formal complaint with municipal authorities regarding the illegal dumping of waste. The group alleges that since September, trucks from a local company have been discharging various types of refuse into an abandoned cave located on Route 54 in the Gobernador Obligado area. The waste is reportedly being covered with soil, which the organization claims violates Municipal Ordinance No. 1115, which prohibits the creation of new waste sites and the filling of existing ones.
In La Plata, horticultural producers organized by the Unión de Trabajadores de la Tierra (UTT) attempted a 'tractorazo' protest to demand improvements to rural infrastructure. Municipal agents intercepted the column of tractors on Avenue 44 in the Lisandro Olmos area, citing regulations that prohibit agricultural machinery from circulating on public roads. Following the interception, producers marched on foot to the Municipal Palace to demand better rural roads, improved lighting, and increased security to facilitate the transport of vegetables and emergency service access.
