Environmental and hiking events organized in Liguria and Val Veddasca
The Ligurian Alps Regional Natural Park is organizing a free guided excursion on November 6 to raise awareness about air quality. Led by environmental guide Fabiano Sartirana, the hike will depart from San Bernardo di Conio in Borgomaro, heading toward Monte Guardiabella. The route covers Monte Aurigo and Monte delle Vallasse, focusing on how local terrain and breezes influence pollutant dispersion in inland villages and natural environments.
In Val Veddasca, the Luino section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) will host an educational evening on October 29. The event, titled “Natura 2000 Network, a heritage to protect,” will feature naturalists Federico Pianezza and Sergio Peduzzi. The discussion will focus on the Val Veddasca ZSC site, part of the European Natura 2000 network, highlighting its biodiversity, rare amphibians, and raptors. The session will also cover sustainable hiking practices and the region's network of trails ranging from family-friendly loops to more challenging mountain routes.
