Environmental and infrastructure projects announced in Poland

In Busko-Zdrój, water law permits have been issued for groundwater extraction and the reconstruction of a water intake. The decision, issued by the Director of the Catchment Management Board in Kielce, concerns extraction from upper Cretaceous formations. The project area includes plots within a 335-meter radius of the intake. While the permits are official, a specific timeline and the total cost of the reconstruction have not yet been disclosed.

In Kraków, the “Protection of the Biodiversity of the Nowohucki Reservoir” project is set to begin preparatory works on October 21. The initiative aims to clean the reservoir floor by removing accumulated silt, sediment, and waste. Key components of the project include protecting island shores from erosion and restoring both buffer vegetation and submerged aquatic plants.

To manage the cleanup, temporary concrete roads and drainage areas for extracted sediments will be established. The project also includes a biological filtration zone at the Młynówka inlet to help mitigate the influx of pollutants from the Dłubnia river. Despite the construction, walking paths are expected to remain accessible to the public, though some temporary fencing may be used near the beach area.
